“It’s a privilege to head up a team of like-minded accounting professionals who are truly passionate about what we do. Nothing beats performing as specialist CPAs to make a real difference for our clients. Targeting our services into the building, construction, property development and property investing niches is close to my heart. I’m an avid property investor myself and have cultivated a long-term professional involvement in related industries. I know we’re doing it right when so many of our clients consider us an integral part of their team.”

Brett is founder and director of Bell Group Accounting (BGA), a Certified Practising Accountant, Public Practitioner, Registered Tax Agent and Geelong local. Since 1990 he’s delivered specialised accounting, taxation and property investing services and strategic advice to national construction businesses, building developers and related businesses and individuals. He sits on the board of several business clients and works closely to understand and anticipate their needs.

Brett’s personal passion for property (he has purchased nine investment properties) drives BGA’s specialisation in services for property investors. Since 1997 Brett has been involved in more than 500 investment property transactions, coordinating the many elements that make each a success. He’s assembled a network of contacts who provide the benefit of buying power and access to the right people in finance, real estate, conveyancing, insurance and more. Brett shares his experience and knowledge through monthly property investment information sessions for clients.

“I believe in a holistic approach to accounting. I look beyond the tax return for ways to help each client get into the best possible overall financial position. That means taking the time to ask questions that others might not, listening carefully and using my experience and know-how to pinpoint opportunities. The ‘big picture’ approach gets real results, whether I’m advising a sizeable business planning for growth or a property investor navigating the purchase-to-settlement-to-lease process.”

Michael has been in public practice since 2002. As a CPA, he’s helped a solid roster of clients including small to medium business, property investors, high wealth individuals, tradesmen/contractors and health professionals.

His capabilities span the spectrum of full-service accounting: business planning, property investment, taxation, business and personal consulting matters. Michael has a knack for translating complex business and taxation matters into plain English and providing friendly, easy-to-grasp advice.

Michael often uses his own experiences as a property investor as an example for clients and is a big believer in the benefits, tax and otherwise, of investing in property.

Michael also has a strong connection to the allied health sector, initially fostered by friends and family in the industry. He developed a keen interest in supporting individuals and businesses within this field. Initially assisting medical staff with tax returns and property investments, he soon expanded his services to help clients establish their own GP and allied health practices, solidifying his commitment to serving this vital industry.

“Working in big accounting firms exposed me to an incredible variety of clients and casework. I learnt how to keep up with ever-changing tax and regulatory requirements, and how to go the extra mile and apply them for the best benefit of my clients. I love bringing that experience to my clients at Bell Group Accounting, using what I know to get them great outcomes. Our focus on the building and construction trades matches my own interests. I get an absolute buzz out of helping a tradie minimise his tax or plan how to set up or grow his business.”
